The Independent Living Project of the Child Welfare Competency-Based Training Program of the
University Of Pittsburgh has the responsibility to monitor implementation of the IL Program
and provide technical assistance to IL programs as needed. This responsibility includes
visits to IL sites to review programs and reporting. Site visits include a review of program
records and interviews with the children and youth director, IL coordinator, staff and program
participants. A report containing findings and recommendations from the visit is prepared and
submitted to the county for action. County agencies that participate in the IL grant program
are required, as a condition of the grant, to cooperate with the IL Project staff. Counties
are encouraged to contact the project staff to answer any questions about completing the grant
application, to discuss program ideas or to arrange for a technical assistance visit.
